Join us for an unforgettable 2018/2019 New Years Adventure and Carnival at one of the 7 natural wonders of the world: The Vic Falls in Zimbabwe!
En-route (both ways) we will camp in Botswana at a very special place called Elephants Sands.

At night you will enjoy the famous Vic Falls Carnival (including a train & secret bush party), Africa’s most adventurous festival, with thousands of adventure loving travellers from all over the world, fire breathers, traditional dancers and a host of amazing artists!
By day you will be Addicted2Adventure by participating in the many adventurous activities available such as white water rafting, bungee jumping, lion encounters, microlight flights over the Vic Falls and many more…
On our return to South Africa, we will spoil you with 2 nights on a secret private island on the Zambezi river in Zambia where you will be transported on mocoro boats, try your hand at tiger fishing or just enjoy the most beautiful sunset you have ever witnessed.

Explore Victoria Falls, the Smoke that Thunders!
Elephant Sands is a bush lodge and campsite in the North-Eastern part of Botswana. We will visit this special place and enjoy viewing the elephants at their natural waterhole right in front of the lodge and campsite. Watch these impressive creatures whilst they drink at only a couple of meters away from you, what an unique experience! There is plenty of other wildlife around as well on their unfenced 16 000ha private conservancy. The lack of fences allows all animals to roam freely.
The Pop-Up Gypsy Carnival tented village where Addicted2Adventure.co.za will be staying, is in the Vic Falls town, which means almost everything is within walking distance from the camp site.
The lovely camp site has:
• A lushes swimming pool for those hot African days
• Beautiful gardens
• Entertainment area
• Shared ablutions with showers and flushable toilets
• Chill zone with plug points to charge phones (no plug points in tents)
• Dedicated camp managers and security
• The Carnival’s free shuttle service has a pick-up point at this camp site
The town
Victoria Falls is a town in the province of Matabeleland North, Zimbabwe.
The Vic Falls
Victoria Falls on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia is one of Africa’s most iconic destinations and one you do not want to miss.
The incredibly loud roar of the Zambezi River as it rushes over the cliffs to form the Victoria Falls is guaranteed to take your breath away. The falls are nicknamed Mosi-oa-Tunya; which means ‘The smoke that thunders’, by the locals, due to the billowing clouds of mist that rise up and drench everything and everyone in its reach when the river is in flood.
Sheer size of the falls
Stretching across 1 708 metres with a height of 108 metres the falls are the world’s largest uninterrupted sheet of falling water with between 20 000 to 500 000 cubic metres of water falling per minute into the Batoka Gorge below.
The falls are approximately twice the height of the Niagra Falls in North America and twice the width of Horseshoe Falls and their height and width are only rivalled by the Iguazu Falls in South America.
A World Heritage Site
The Victoria Falls are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are actually made up of 7 different waterfalls. There are two islands at the top of the falls; named Boaruka Island and Livingstone Island that are large enough to cause the water to divide and part.
The spray from the falls can be seen over 20 metres away and is responsible for sustaining the tropical ‘rainforest’ that is found opposite the falls.
Both sides to view from
On the Zimbabwe side visitors can explore the series of paths that twist and wind in and out of the surrounding rainforest where extensive views of the main falls can be seen from numerous vantage points.
On the Zambian side of the falls, the Knife-Edge bridge allows visitors to walk incredibly close to the cascading falls while a footpath leads you steeply down to the Boiling Pot whirlpool below.
A truly African landscape, the area surrounding the falls is astonishingly beautiful with a wide variety of endemic plants, a massive array of wildlife and multitude of bird species all found in close proximity.
Named after…
Rich in culture and history the Victorian Falls take their name from the explorer and missionary; David Livingstone. David Livingstone was the first European to view the falls in 1855 and named them after the British queen at the time; Queen Victoria.

Camp site on private island in Zambia
The beautiful Zambezi river is running around this small island… it’s like in a movie! You can only access the island by mocoro boats (traditional wooden boats) which will be arranged by Addicted2Adventure.
The ‘facilities’ on the island:
You will have sooo many bragging rights after this holiday! We will be driving en route through Botswana, Zambia and then reach Zimbabwe. This will give you stamps for 3 different countries in your passport!
Botswana
Botswana, a landlocked country in Southern Africa, has a landscape defined by the Kalahari Desert and the Okavango Delta, which becomes a lush animal habitat during the seasonal floods. The massive Central Kalahari Game Reserve, with its fossilized river valleys and undulating grasslands, is home to numerous animals including giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs.
Zambia
Zambia, in southern Africa, is a landlocked country of rugged terrain and diverse wildlife, with many parks and safari areas. On its border with Zimbabwe is famed Victoria Falls – indigenously called Mosi-oa-Tunya, or “Smoke That Thunders” – plunging a misty 108m into narrow Batoka Gorge. Spanning the Zambezi River just below the falls is Victoria Falls Bridge, a spectacular viewpoint.
Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in southern Africa known for its dramatic landscape and diverse wildlife, much of it within parks, reserves and safari areas. On the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls make a thundering 108m drop into narrow Batoka Gorge, where there’s white-water rafting and bungee-jumping. Downstream are Matusadona and Mana Pools national parks, home to hippos, rhinos and birdlife.
